Last month, or really, the beginning of this month, I started a new craft—embroidery. I’ve completed a stitch sampler, meant to help beginners like me learn different stitches and a little bunny scene for my niece. (Her room is decorated with woodland animals and we have a recurring character named Mr. Bunny that inevitably shows up in the stories we tell each over FaceTime.)


I find that it is indeed a very calming activity. Even if I listen to the horrible news while I’m stitching, I don’t get as emotional because I have to concentrate on the work at hand. It’s also a good don’t-forget-to-slow-down activity.
And if you don’t look too closely, I think they’re rather lovely. But don’t look too closely!
