I was inspired by this blog post by Nawal Qarooni Casiano to write some equations today. (If you haven’t already read this post, go there first!)
Here are some drafts in no particular order:
music + movement = joy
mid-afternoon nap + dog at feet = bliss
clouds + Saturday = lazy day
flowers + nose = achoo
purpose + choice = engagement
tomatoes + butter + onion = dinner
timer + music = productivity
son + kitchen = chaos
bike + time + friends = fun
bike + bump + gravel + gravity = road rash
work – time = stress
Uh oh, I’m running out of time now! What is the math that makes up your life?
I love these! I’m also a “timer + music” kind of gal. It’s been my crutch through MANY a to-do list. Maybe I’ll give it a go:
Need for creative outlet – lots of time to invest = baked goods ….
All my love / my kids = still all my love ….
I might also draw a graph showing the inverse proportional relationship between the size of the box/bag of foodstuffs and my kids’ interest in eating any of it (see: Costco Rule)
Vivian, these are some great equations, even though your subtraction problem hit a little too close to home! I’ve seen this form floating around the Poetry Friday and Slice of Life communities, and I’ve enjoyed it a bit myself. I’m looking forward to introducing it to my students in the fall. Thanks for sharing!
