I’ve been looking at LinkedIn and EDJOIN a lot this year. While there is a lot to love about working with teachers, I miss working directly with students. And it turns out I kind of hate being self-employed and having to hustle. I like to hustle when it’s planning units or lessons, not getting or keeping contracts.
One day, as I was looking at the suggested openings on LinkedIn, a listing caught my eye: Peace Corps is hiring an Instructional Coach (remote). I wondered how that would work—remote coaching. I’ve done it before on a limited scale, but it wasn’t ideal. I clicked to read more. The description of the work was definitely in my wheelhouse.
Could this be my next venture? Should I apply? I started making plans in my head to update my resume, contact potential references. I kept scrolling to find out more about the application process when everything came to a screeching halt. “Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Belize…”
It turns out when they said “remote,” they meant remote!
