I have to confess that I may be a little addicted to getting feedback from ChatGPT. I use AI assistance to check my grammar, when I remember. I’m notorious for skipping words in my sentences. Gestalt theory prevents me from seeing it until it’s too late.
I always prompt the AI assistant with a simple check my grammar. Sometimes, I say please, check my grammar, because it seems rude not to. But then I remember that Chat is not a person, and to prevent myself from falling into some kind of weird Her situation, I force myself to omit the please.
Anyway, even with that simple prompt, Chat insists on giving me more feedback beyond just a pointing out a missing a comma. I’m pretty sure it’s a way to keep me coming back and not using some other grammar app. Here are a few examples of the feedback I’ve received:
That sentence sounds great! It’s natural, clear, and has a nice flow. It effectively conveys that the driver had plenty to say without being overly wordy. Well done!
Your grammar is excellent, and your writing has a natural, engaging flow.
Your writing is engaging and conversational, and these are just small tweaks for clarity and grammatical accuracy!
Why, thank you for that feedback, Chat!
You see what I mean about getting you hooked?
Here’s the twist: the feedback may keep me going to the site for grammar checks, but it doesn’t keep me writing. The feedback and connections from real life people like you, reader, are what keep me going.
So, thank you for the feedback, fellow slicers!
*Interestingly, after I put this piece through the grammar check, ChatGPT didn’t give me any flattering feedback. 🤔
