What’s a Scorpion?

Published by

Today is my husband’s birthday and we’re in Las Vegas where we should be getting ready to see the Scorpions in concert. Unfortunately, the show has been postponed until August. It was supposed to be the kickoff to their 60th anniversary celebrations–the band was formed in 1965!

I said to my much younger sister a few weeks ago, “We’re going to celebrate H’s birthday in Vegas; we’re seeing the Scorpions.” She responded with, “What’s a scorpion?” It was one of those nagging reminders that there is indeed quite an age gap between the two of us.

Keeping it short because birthday celebrations are still to be had, but here’s some Scorpions for your enjoyment.

It’s just hard to imagine those same theatrics, the cage, the crowd the brash, “Here I am, Rock you like a hurricane,” 15 years after that video. Fun to flashback to though. Have such fun in Vegas!

My husband had a flashback to when we saw the Scorpions in 2018 and reminded me that they weren’t nearly as theatrical as they had been in their younger years…Maybe we had more fun without going to the concert. LOL.

Happy birthday to your husband. I think your sister may need a lesson on rock bands.

    Vivian,

I thought I’d be reading about my horoscope w/ your title! I wish I were in Vegas. I’ve been eying the Sphere schedule. I really want to see the Eagles. Anyway, have fun and let us know what replaced the Scorpions.

What a lighthearted look at growing older (alas!). Last week at school I used the phrase “heard it through the grapevine” and the kids had NO idea what I meant. We had to stop everything and pull the California Raisins up online. Hope Vegas is still so much fun despite the loss of the Scorpions.

Oh no! How disappointing that the concert was postponed. I hope your new plans turned out to also be fun. I’m glad you included your sister’s question, because I was wondering the same thing. I was wondering if I was going to see some sort of desert animal when I clicked on your link. 🙂

What a disappointment, but how fun for us all to see the Scorpions today because of your link. I hadn’t thought of that song in a long time. 🙂

I hope you still have fun with celebrations.

Bummer that the concert was postponed. Talk about disappointment, but at least you’re in Vegas to fill the void. Funny how you don’t realize younger people are clueless about certain things, such as the difference between the Scorpions and scorpions. “Hanging up” the phone. Flipping through pictures… Enjoy the birthday celebration!
