Classic cars of the future

Just about every Sunday, you’ll find a group of us at a different local eatery trying out their breakfast burritos. The motto of the club is “Huevo can make it, makes it,” because you never know who will actually show up.

This last Sunday, a couple of local restaurants offered free burritos and free coffee at the car gathering taking place in between the two establishments. Although we’d have to get there earlier than usual, it was too good of a deal to pass up. The burritos were predictably tasty, the coffee surprisingly strong, and the cars amusingly eclectic.

After admiring the different vehicles ranging from a vintage VW bus to a life-size Hot Wheels car, I wondered what car gatherings might look like in the future. Most of the cars in the lot weren’t luxury cars, but they each had a distinct character. It was hard to imagine a bunch of people oohing and aahing over one of our Toyota Priuses.

Maybe car gatherings won’t be a thing in 50 years…

What a cool pun, “Huevo can make it, makes it.” Sounds like a fun time. I, too, wonder what “vintage cars” will have any appeal in 50 years.

    Vivian,

As someone who loves classic cars, I know what you mean about your ride. I drive a Honda CRV. If there is a soccer mom car rally, my car might qualify!

I’ve never kept a car long enough for it to even come close to classic status. My present RAV 4 will not see this distinction either. A friend of mine has several classic cars that he takes to shows and often win. I like your idea of the breakfast club. We have a lunch club that meets monthly.

The breakfast burrito club is pretty fun. We have a couple of people who are talented review writers. Maybe I’ll write more about it in March!

Car gatherings sounds interesting. The cars of the present times seem the same to me, with only a few changes. Some years ago we went to an antique car exhibition. Each car had a distinctive personality 🙂
