    I’m writing this on my phone. It’s 10:25 am here in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

    Last night we overheard a gentleman talk about how this was the second time this year he had been at this resort. “That’s gonna be us in retirement, Vivian. We can come any time!” That’s at least 5 years from now, but hopefully it’ll go by quickly.

    As I thought about how much we love spending time in Mexico, I wondered how many people enjoy coming here but also think mass deportations are a good idea. Seems incongruous to the say the least.

    Okay, my piña colada has arrived, time to sign off.

      I have such lovely memories of Playa del Carmen, the beach and the little artsy town. (It was definitely the best part of a quick cruise.) I still remember my son and I sitting on the beach having a discussion about Joseph Conrad and the required reading he clutched in his sandy hand, The Heart of Darkness. Oh, the weird things our memory holds dear.

      It’s really something to hear those who love the idea of mass deportations but who also enjoy international travel. I’ve taken many trips to Mexico, but travel has made me more accepting of immigration, including refugees. I’d love to know which resort you’re at. Have fun!

      Five years until retirement…trust me, they will pass quickly. Sounds like you are enjoying your trip. Never been to Mexico.

      I have never been to Mexico. Sounds lovely, but it’s not on my bucket list. My sights are set on farther north…Scotland? Northern lights? Maybe because I spend most of my time in the tropic south (Louisiana).

      Looks and sounds amazing! I love how this slice even feels like it is on the beach with the Pina Colada sign off!
