Red Vines or Twizzlers

This weekend the boys, my stepsons and husband, and I went to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. We were there to see Mt. Joy because it’s one of my son’s favorite bands. (It wasn’t appreciated as much as I hoped, but that’s another story.)

Anyway, as we waited for the band to appear on stage, I turned to look at my guys and all three of them each had a Red Vine in their mouth. It gave me a little chuckle. We’re definitely Team Red Vines in this house.

This reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend a few years back about which was better–Red Vines or Twizzlers. It turns out she had never had Red Vines because apparently they’re not a thing in the Northeast. Of course I had to convince her to come to Team Red Vines. While she gave the taste a 10/10, she wasn’t sold on the texture and admitted she still liked Twizzlers. I tried.

Which team are you on and is this really a regional thing?

I had to Google Red Vines because I am not familiar with them. Twizzlers – yes. They make great straws and then you can eat them.

I’m not really fond of either Red Vines or Twizzlers, though I think Twizzlers are more common where I live (Chicago area). However, I recently read a novella in which Twizzlers were featured! They were an apology gift from one character to another. A huge box of Twizzlers.

I’m from the Northeast and I never head of Red Vines. I don’t like red Twisslers. I like black licorice. Now, I’m on the search for Red Vines!

Okay, as regional as it may be, there can be no comparison. Twizzlers, a definite favorite in NJ, freak me out…they are shiny! Who in the world wants to eat shiny licorice? (I’ll eat the ropes, too, anything matte!)? In fact, I just bought myself a bag of Red Vines. Thanks for the motivation!

This is so ironic!! I was just at the Pink concert and she was having this EXACT conversation with the crowd! We’re in Chicago and i had never even heard of red vines! I didn’t even know what she was talking about until she started talking about twizzlers too. And the crowd let her know this is twizzler country, lol.
I actually hate twizzlers. Maybe I need to try red vines sometime! I always thought I just didn’t like licorice, but maybe I just don’t like twizzlers!

Oh, my! This is such a thing! Thanks for the smiles. My daughter and I are Team Red Vines, all the way. Another daughter is Twizzlers. This summer we took a road trip with my Red Vines daughter and her Twizzler husband. We had to bring both in the car!

I didn’t even know there were parts of the country that were unaware of Red Vines! We’ve always had both.
