What is going on outside? Why does it sound like someone is doing light construction on the house at five o’clock in the morning? I laid in bed wondering if I should get up and investigate. Surely, my husband was already on it. Turned out he was the cause of the ruckus.
Part of the power was (or is, I should say) out in the house and one of those parts is the garage. We learned the hard way a few years ago, how to open the door when the electricity was out, but there is still the challenge of finding the key to open the back door of the garage. For some reason, we never learn that lesson–label the keys better!
I’m currently writing using my phone as a hot spot, hoping that the power comes back on before the temperatures get too hot and the food in the fridge goes bad. (I’m thinking of transferring some of it too a cooler, but that task seems daunting right now. I’d rather keep my fingers crossed.)
The last time this happened, an electrician came and asked if I had a space heater. I said no, even though I did have one. I just forgot because it hadn’t been plugged in for months. It was sitting idly under my desk. After nearly two hours of investigating all of the outlets and connections to no avail, the electrician spotted an outlet that had been sort of hidden. “Is there something on the other side of that?” We want back into my office to look for the outlet on the other side of the wall. As the electrician crouched down to take a look something else caught his eye. The space heater.
“Vivian, remember when I asked you if you had a space heater…” Oops!
Five minutes later the problem was solved. Of course I had to pay for 2 hours of work.

I guess the good news is that you know the space heater isn’t the problem this time? At least, I hope so. I also hope your power comes back soon as this is not the time for the air to be out.
If it were me, I would wait until the last possible second to move food out of the fridge. What a hassle.
