Thanks Elisabeth for the inspiration!

The Hello Kitty paper coffee cup that sits atop my desk has two creases that irk me to no end. But when I’m extra annoyed I remind myself that this cup traveled all the way from Taipei–no easy feat for a piece of cardboard.

Standing tall and proud is the magnetic giraffe adorned with a few paper clips, gifted to me by one of the new teachers I mentored. We parted ways nearly 7 years ago, but it makes me think of her often. When I see her posting about students’ rights on social media, it makes me proud to have been part of her journey.

Are you supposed to hang a horseshoe with the open side up or down? I think I wrote about this once in an older slice. On the bookshelf next to my desk, I have a horseshoe resting, open-side up. It belonged to my dad and sat in his office desk for years. When he retired, he gifted it to me. He not only doesn’t remember giving it to me, he also doesn’t remember why he had it in the first place.

At the top of my bookshelf sits my trio of Disney ears. The latest one added are of Baymax from Big Hero 6. Maybe I am a Disney adult…

It is interesting to see what people surround themselves with and to then hear the stories attached to each item. I lie this format and need to keep it in mind for when I am stumped for an idea.

Great format! I’m pretty sure that horseshoes should be open side up so that they can capture luck. You could check me on that! And high five to that cardboard cup!

So glad you found some inspiration in this format! I am completely in love with your Hello Kitty cup and cannot believe it traveled so far. How funny that your dad doesn’t even remember why he had the horseshoe.

[…] Once again, I’m inspired by Elisabeth Ellington‘s post to try the 4-4-4 format again. The last time I did this was last May. […]
