Carpool

On Saturday afternoons, when I’m commitment-free, I like to go to a GROOV3 dance class. It’s a fun way to get out the stress of the week, get some exercise, and work that brain. The only thing I don’t enjoy about it is driving there. It’s about 30 minutes from my home. It might not seem too bad, but when you have to commute in LA traffic all week, it can seem like an eon. However, if I get to carpool with my friend Sally, it’s all okay. We get to catch up on the way there and rehash the funny and challenging moments of class on the way home.

This last weekend there was a pop-up class on Sunday, also about 30 minutes away. Driving again on the weekend? It would’ve been easy for me to not go, but knowing I was going to have my favorite carpool companion with me made it easy for me to say yes.

I drive as little as possible, and when I walk somewhere and the weather turns, I get annoyed. Then a friend will give me a ride home, and I am happy for the way things turned out. Companionship transcends all incidental events.
