On Saturday morning I was nearly late to my event; I was busy reading slices. Most mornings I set a timer and read while I eat breakfast and drink my coffee, but it was the weekend and I had plenty of time…until I didn’t.
With so many posts to choose from, I can become paralyzed with indecision. I want to read them all. To overcome this, I’ve been playing Blog Roulette. The way you play is to scroll up (or down) the list of posts and randomly stop. Whatever link is there, is the one you read.
I was playing this game on Saturday and all was going well until…what was that? A post from a slicer I read often caught my eye. Let me read one more. Oops, I didn’t post my own slice yet. Scroll down to the en–what was that? Another post from a different slicer that I read often. Okay, I have time for one more. Running out of time now. Better post my own…yikes, there’s another one! Last one…oh no! I’m going to be late. I’ll post mine later.
Day 11, people! Let’s keep it going.

I set a goal for 20 blog posts on Saturday; I made it to 10. Yesterday I was happy with seven. There is such fierce loyalty at work once you’ve read and commented on a blog. Writing is a way of getting to know, and I find it hard to turn my back on that. Boy, reading can get away from us.

You capture well the multitasking involved in spontaneous slice reading. In March, slices are my Netflix, though this year I’ve been preoccupied with some emergencies. Despite it all, this community has been a safe haven and lifeline during the storms of life. Your teaser drew me in today- on average I comment on about 5-10 a day.

Blog roulette! I’ll try this strategy. I like that it adds chance to the selection process.

So fun, and you’re right!! It’s so difficult to choose and so difficult to stop reading (just to fulfill other responsibilities?! 😜)

I get that way, too. When I’m running low on time, I have to very consciously stop myself from reading the teasers, but it’s so hard! I love the idea of playing roulette and seeing where the scrolling stops. I loved the whole slice. This in particular resonated with me: “Scroll down to the en–what was that? Another post from a different slicer that I read often. Okay, I have time for one more.” –You’ve captured this “addiction” perfectly!
