• Watching kids’ reactions to my read aloud
• Being on the UCLA campus again
• Seeing former professors
• Getting most of the choreo right in GROOV3 class

4 words to describe my week
• Amusing
• Challenging
• Productive
• Long

3 plans for the weekend
• Serve on an interview panel for principal leadership program
• Watch Dune 2 on IMAX
• Have lunch with my BFF from elementary school

2 things I learned/relearned this week
• I have difficulty appreciating/honoring the concept of rest.
• I’m a writer who likes a prompt.

1 goal for the week ahead
• Make connections for next year’s work!

I think teachers by nature don’t understand the concept of rest because our minds are always on thinking how everything we see and do can be turned into a lesson.

This seems like a fun format for reflecting on the week. I especially loved your four words to describe your week–they are a great combination!

“Being on campus again.” No matter how long I’m away, I’m always glad to get back to my undergraduate institution. Most all of my professors have since retired, and the new buildings make it look like a different place, but the sidewalks and old buildings still hold memories and emanate feelings of belonging, intellectual growth, and becoming.

YAY, I’m so glad you tried out this format. It’s perfect for an end of week of reflection. I, too, love prompts 😉 I used to feel ashamed of that, as if it said something negative about my creativity, but I thrive on prompts.

    Love your post!!

I have definitely at different times in my life struggled with the concept of “rest.” As an educator, I would often see the need for it in others, but deny that I needed it (totally hypocritical- I know). This year, my resolution was to “live intentionally” and focus on being “in the moment.” It has been a game-changer for me. I love the 54321 method!

I love prompts too–and especially structures and formats. They provide a helpful container for generating writing. I’m definitely going to try this format sometime this month.
