Hey there! I'm Vivian. Sometimes I write about life and sometimes I write about teaching.

I recently read somewhere that Mem Fox, one of my favorite children’s authors and educator, said, “Readers are what make writing matter.”

When I started the Slice of Life Challenge last year, I didn’t think I’d be able to write every day, but I did. I also didn’t think I’d keep popping in for some Tuesday slices, but I did. This year there’s more commuting and more on my plate than there was last year so I’m nervous that I won’t be able to do all 31 days, but I’m here today. A big part of that is the support and feedback I get each time from readers. So to start off this year’s challenge I want to say thank you in advance for reading and making my writing feel like it matters.

  1. And thank you for continuing to challenge yourself in both the Challenge and on Tuesdays! Your writing gives me some perspective on life that I don’t have being from the Mid-West and for that I am grateful. 🙂

You are here! Showing up is more than half the battle…looking forward to reading more from you this month.

You ARE here today. And I’m so very glad and grateful to find you in my writing community. Here’s to 31 days of writing, reading, growing. I love that Mem Fox sentiment, and I find it to be more and more true with each passing year. I’m stealing it to share with my students!

  4. I’m right there with you — day 2 and still here. Look forward to connecting this month.

  5. […] thought you’d come here and get thanks from me, you’re wrong. I already thanked you on Day 1, remember? In all seriousness, I have been filled with gratitude each and every day of this […]
