Birthday poem

Published by

Today is my partner’s birthday. We’re the complete opposites when it comes to celebrating our special day. I like to parlay my day into a month of dinners and get togethers. He could go without a single celebration. Nevertheless, I’m going to celebrate him today with a list poem.

Pisces water baby
Dreams of sailing
Surfs
Paddles
Swims
Macgyver
Solves problems
Builds
Paints
Creates
Dad of two
Raises boys
Bonds
Plays
Sacrifices
Partner in life
On an adventure
Shares
Gives
Loves

P.S. Still figuring out how to use this site and format properly!

    Welcome to the SOLSC!

Happy birthday to your partner. Even though he might not be into celebrating, I am sure he’ll be touched that you wrote a poem about him. 🙂

I love this poem! Your first line grabbed me and I love how you chose to end it. I see sort of stanzas of 5 lines each, riffing on the first image.
Very nice, and welcome to the March challenge!

I really enjoyed your list poem! I appreciated how you chose so many active verbs–those words really brought your partner to life. And now I want to try a list poem too. Welcome to the challenge!

    Welcome to the Challenge!

I love to find pieces of a person's writing and this one struck me. I love how you know he'd rather you not, but you are going to do it anyway! You can feel the love in your voice as you list off all the awesome qualities about your husband!

Thank you for sharing with us today! I look forward to more of your writing during the month of March! 🙂

Love your birthday list poem. It paints a wonderful picture of a man who may not like to celebrate b-days, but definitely deserves to be celebrated. I’m like you, one can never celebrate a birthday too much. My husband, likes to let them pass unnoticed.

I feel like I know so much about him through your poem, even though the words are sparse! Each word is so carefully chosen and they flow together nicely! My favorite stretch was “bonds / plays / gives”. Powerful.
Welcome to the challenge! You’re now part of an incredible community!

Hi! My partner is the same, and his birthday is Friday. Thanks for giving me the idea to celebrate him with a list poem too! I love your first line- Pisces water baby- because depending how you read it, it can carry different meanings. This is my first time doing SOL too:)
