Progress over perfection

During the March SOL Challenge, I was inspired to take up yet another new hobby. My kit finally came yesterday!

When I purchased this kit, I imagined myself in a scene of Bridgerton, sitting by the fire embroidering, while my husband played on the pianoforte. I look more like Mr. Magoo squinting to see the eye of the needle and the placement for the the next stitch. Nevertheless, starting has been fun.

Embroidery! YAY! I don’t know if I have any early samples. Something to look for again! I do love my machine embroidery and the fact that it threads the needle. WIN!

Makes me smile, your comparison between the Bridgerton ideal and your Mr. Magoo squint. Maybe updates are in the future? I hope so!

Nice to have kit to teach you the stitches. Have fun with that. I have been away from sewing for awhile. Might have to pull it out again.

OK, so now I have an image of you, Magoo-like and hunched over an embroidery circle. =)

It makes me think about how some hobbies and interests can be so aspirational for me – like, how many times have I pictured myself doing a Thing where my entire life follows suit? I can be a Person Who Knits. Or, I can imagine life as That Woman Who Runs.

Just don’t ask me about the beginner crochet kit I’ve had tucked in my drawer since June…
