Another year older

Tonight is Lunar New Year’s Eve. This means we’ll have a special dinner with lots of “lucky” food, and tomorrow we’ll all be a year older. This is a common practice in some East Asian countries–you don’t technically turn another year older until the passing of the new year. You’re also considered 1 year old when you’re born…All of this explains why I was always confused trying to figure out how old my grandparents were. The math didn’t math!

Anyway, you know you’re getting older when this is the highlight of your day…

Yesterday I went for a regular physical and the doctor informed me that the two pills I currently take for high blood pressure are now available in one combo pill.

And because I want to start the new year with a good attitude, I will truly be grateful for that small win.

Happy New Year!

The sentence “The math didn’t math.” made me giggle. Happy Lunar New Year!

There are so many fun things about this post! I love how you move from talking about everyone getting a year older to your current sign of getting older, and the humor (sort of) in having the combo pill be your win to start the year off well. Enjoy the celebration! –and happy birthday! 🙂

I had learned about the way the calculations work according to the Chinese Lunar New Year, but I’d not thought about how it could mess with a younger person’s understanding of ages. Congratulations on the pill consolidation. (I love being able to claim that I only take one in my advanced years!) Happy New Year in the Year of the Snake.

Happy Lunar New Year!! I do agree that you know you’re getting older when trips to the doctor that have good news is a highlight. But always take the small wins where you can get them.
