Hey there! I'm Vivian. Sometimes I write about life and sometimes I write about teaching.

I have a very sensitive sniffer.

This can be both a blessing and a curse. It can definitely be a curse when you’re a middle school teacher…IFYKYK (if you know, you know).

I’m always asking my husband, “Do you smell that?” or “Does that smell weird?” Oftentimes the response is, “I don’t smell anything.” But one thing my husband always picks up on is someone’s cologne or perfume.

So after a dinner out one recent evening–a dinner where I thought the wine lacked aroma and my husband said it was bland, a dinner when the smell of fajitas was faint (when is that ever true), and the queso fundido lacked flavor (again, is this possible)-my husband said, “Whew! Did you smell that?”

“What smell?” I asked. I looked at him bewildered.

“You didn’t smell that guy’s cologne?” he asked, shocked that the one who smells everything smelled nothing. Nothing.

And that’s when I knew COVID got me.

P.S. Only mild symptoms much like a cold. Stay safe out there!

Oh my. Sorry to hear you got hit with it. Glad you symptoms were mild. Take care.

Stay healthy… hopefully, this is the only symptom.

Oh no! I hope you have a speedy recovery. And fajitas, you’re correct, how can you not ever smell them? When my son was younger, he’d sing this jingle when he smelled something awful: “P-U what’s that horrible smell?”

First, I love this!! I just found out about this text speak a month ago and now, I see it all over! 🙂

Now, a parent of a former student found out she had covid when she’d called her mother to complain about how bland the food was a restaurant. Mom reminded her about covid and sure enough, she had it.

Amazing how this stupid virus sneaks up on you.

I hope your symptoms continue to be mild and the your recovery is a full one! ❤️
