For almost a year now, this has been the view from my working spot. The spot where I sit to plan or Zoom with teachers and kids. Each morning as I start my day, I look out at the sky and appreciate whatever Southern California has to offer. Some mornings it’s clear blue skies. Some mornings, it’s a gray blanket of clouds. Some mornings, like this one, it’s extra beautiful, painted with all the colors of the sunrise and dotted with clouds.
Before COVID, I was commuting or already at a school site at this hour so I didn’t have the opportunity to sit quietly in gratitude at what was outside my window. As schools start to make plans for the return to the school building, I’ve been thinking about how much I’ll miss these moments.
